Why Choose Us

Founded by a Visionary Who Made the Impossible Possible

NISOM-logo-FINAL-White-Background
Northeast Iowa School of Music was founded in 2001 by Tracey Rush, a professional music educator, violist, and composer.
Tracey was frustrated teaching lessons out of her home and driving her kids to multiple locations on multiple days to have their lessons on multiple instruments.
For years, she envisioned a school where parents could bring all their kids and where teachers could teach outside of their homes, thus, a school of music was born.

What Our Students Have To Say About NISOM

Little did I know that when I opened the door to my first voice lesson, I was actually opening the door to a whole new world. Music is transformative and a big part of my everyday life.

Cathy G.

I had taken music lessons in grade school. I wasn't great at it, so I abandoned it in high school. I'm so glad to have an outlet to revive my passion for music in such a welcoming environment.

    Business Professional and Saxophone

Yeah. I play the piano. I play the heck out of the piano, and I'm getting better each and every day. Wanna hear me play?

5th Grader, Future Policeman, and Piano

I always wanted to play an instrument. Two years ago, I gave myself music lessons for my birthday, and I haven't looked back.

        Phlebotomist and Trombone

I guess you could say the violin was my "gateway" instrument, as I now play viola and a little cello. That's the thing. Once you start, you can't stop. Music is now a part of my identity.
